– The collective agreement gives us a chance to influence salaries and other terms for journalists employed by the staffing industry, says Agneta Lindblom Hulthén, Chairman at the Swedish Union of Journalists. This is a new industry to us and the fact that we now have a collective agreement is important.

The new collective agreement has its base in the already existing staffing agreement between the employers’ association ALMEGA and the white-collar union HTF, but with some essential adjustments to the area of journalism. For example, regulations regarding humiliating assignments are equal to those in the agreement with the Swedish Newspaper Publishers’ Association and copyright regulations is set out by the collective agreements at the client’s workplace.

Salaries are regulated by a flexibility clause set out with the agreement between The Swedish Union of Journalists and the Media and Information Employers’ Association.

The agreement is valid till March 31, 2007, and includes all employees with journalistic assignments at Mediakompetens AB.
